Natural Gas

Natural resources such as logging, mining, grazing, oil, and gas are plentiful in the Pincher Creek area. In 1957, Shell Canada discovered a rich sour natural gas field west of Pincher Creek and constructed a plant to process it.

Today, the Shell Canada Waterton Gas Complex processes more than 5.5 million cubic meters of raw gas each day into the following products:

The first gas from the Waterton Plant was sold and delivered in January 1962. Since then, the plant under went several expansions  to increase its capacity and improve its efficiency in reducing emissions.
