Election Workers - 2025 Municipal Election

The Town of Pincher Creek is now accepting applications for Election Workers for the upcoming Municipal Election to be held on October 20, 2025 and Advanced Vote on October 15, 2025.  (mandatory training session on October 8, 2025)
 
Election workers are an essential part of the voting process.  The successful applicants will follow all aspects of the election procedures as defined in the Local Authorities Election Act.  Under the direction of the Returning Officer, you will assist voters and help maintain the integrity of the election.
 
Individuals interested in applying should demonstrate:
  • A commitment to helping people
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic literacy skills (reading, writing and comprehension)
  • Legible printing
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to standards
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to work long days (12 – 14 hours)
  • Ability to work as part of a team
Requirements:
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Fluent in English (additional languages an asset)
  • Prior election experience is an asset but not required
Duties:
  • Set up and take down voting station
  • Assist voters throughout the day
  • Provide accurate information to the public
  • Count and record ballots after polls close
  • Follow instructions from the Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer
Remuneration: $27.00 per hour

Casual Lifeguards

Senior Guard

The Culture and Recreation Department is seeking energetic, qualified, self-directed individual for the position of Casual Senior Guard. Reporting to the Recreation Manager and under the direction of the Aquatic Coordinator, the Senior Guard is responsible providing a safe, clean, friendly environment in which pool patrons may enjoy all aspects of aquatics. In addition to lifeguarding and swim instruction, this role will support summer programming and arena setup.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Lifeguarding duties
  • Provide professional instruction to patrons
  • Initiate emergency response and administer first aid to staff and patrons as required
  • Ensure maintenance and cleaning of areas and equipment are carried out
  • Ensure a safe environment for staff and patrons
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 years of Age
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C (Must Be Current)
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (Must Be Current)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Lifeguard
  • Lifesaving Instructor Certificate (Must Be Current)
  • Knowledge of Basic Pool Operations is required (Adding chemicals, monitoring the SCADA System, ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues, dealing with pool contaminations etc.)
Assets:
  • Pool Operators Certificate
  • Experience in Aquafit Instruction
Probation Rate: $22.64/hr; Job Rate $23.58/hr in accordance with CUPE Local 927 Agreement

In addition to lifeguarding and swim instruction, this role will support summer programming and arena setup.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain open communication with patrons and staff
  • Perform lifeguarding duties and monitor patrons in all aquatic areas
  • Conduct swimming lessons and aquatic programming
  • Administer first aid and initiate emergency response procedures as required
  • Support maintenance and cleaning duties throughout the facility
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment inside and outside the building
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 16 years of Age
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C (Must Be Current)
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (Must Be Current)
Assets:
  • Experience working in aquatic or recreation environments
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Probation Rate: $18.97/hr; Job Rate $19.88/hr in accordance with CUPE Local 927 Agreement
