Amending Schedule 3 ‘Manufactured/Mobile Home – R2’ to change RVs as Residential Dwellings from Prohibited to Permitted or Discretionary Use

Council of the Town of Pincher Creek has been requested by a land owner to consider an amendment to Land Use Bylaw No. 1639-25, amending Schedule 3, ‘Manufactured/Mobile Home – R2’ land use district, of Bylaw No. 1639-25, and change “RVs as Residential Dwellings” from being a prohibited land use and prescribe the use as either a permitted or discretionary use in the land use district. As a current prohibited land use, recreational vehicles (RVs) are not allowed to be lived in year-round as fulltime residential dwellings for human occupancy.

The intended purpose of the proposed amendment made by the applicant is to request Council add “RVs as Residential Dwellings” as a use that may be allowed in order to formalize existing informal RV occupancy that is occurring and not in compliance with the Bylaw.

A public hearing is to be held before Council on July 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. as the municipality must provide for the Bylaw application amendment’s consideration at a public hearing. A copy of the proposed complete bylaw may be inspected at the Town of Pincher Creek office during normal business hours.

How to Attend the Public Hearing

A public hearing to consider the proposed bylaw will be held in person in Council Chambers at the Town office 6:00pm on July 27, 2026.

If you would like to speak at the public hearing or listen in, please contact the Town office at reception@pinchercreek.ca by 4:00pm on July 21, 2026.

Anyone wishing to participate in the public hearing by electronic means is required to register in advance on or before 4:00pm on July 21, 2026.
