Meals on Wheels

The Meals on Wheels program in Pincher Creek is a volunteer-based community service run as a cooperative effort among various partners. It is available to individuals who are aged, ill, handicapped, convalescent, or who lack the strength or motivation to prepare adequate meals.

How to Arrange for Meals

Call Crestview Lodge (403-627-3833) and arrange to meet with the Meals on Wheels Coordinator to fill out the application documents. Meals can be provided as soon as the documents are completed, or to start on an arranged date.

If a meal is to be cancelled for some reason the client, or someone, MUST call the Kitchen 24 hours in advance. If a meal has been prepared for a client and has been delivered, then the client is responsible for paying for that meal. To make any changes to your meals or cancel a meal, call Crestview Lodge Kitchen at 403-627- 3833, ext. 4, at least 24 hours in advance.

Meals will not be left by the Volunteer drivers if clients are not at home to receive them. Health regulations require that meals be refrigerated and consumed within a specific time frame. If you are not at home we cannot guarantee the safety of the meal, and we do not want clients to get sick.

Fraud Prevention

Government of Canada

Fraud is the number one crime against older Canadians. Though people of all ages can be victims of fraud, older people get targeted more than others. Some of the reasons are that they are often home during the day to answer the door or phone, they can be more trusting and they may not have family or friends close by to ask for a second opinion.

People who commit fraud and scams are commonly called con artists. Con artists don't just target people who have a lot of money. A con artist may steal a small amount from many people. They use a variety of ways to reach people, including the Internet, phone calls and even door-to-door visits.

RCMP Guidebook

Who is this guide intended for?

This guide is for seniors, their family members, care-givers, friends, and anyone else who may find it useful. It is not meant to include everything but tries to answer some common concerns when it comes to seniors' safety and security. Our goal is to raise awareness of seniors' safety issues to improve their quality of life.

The information in this guide can also be used to help people and their loved ones discuss this topic to help recognize a potential crime situation and show how to reduce or remove the risk.
